Erna Beyer, a resident at Life Care Center of Hickory Woods in Antioch, Tennessee, just turned 100.
Beyer’s family and friends celebrated the occasion with her on Sept. 7, 2017, with a party.
During the celebration, Beyer was inducted into Life Care Centers of America’s Century Club for centenarians and presented with a certificate and pin.
Because of Beyer’s German heritage, the facility had an accordion player come in to play German songs for her. Her family came from all over Tennessee to celebrate with her, and some of her friends, who had already been discharged from the facility, came back as well.
The associates gathered more than 100 cards to celebrate her milestone birthday.
Born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on Sept. 6, 1917, Beyer was married to Walter Beyer and has two daughters. She loved to bake and was a waitress in her younger days before she got married and dedicated herself to raising her children. She now has four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
“Never give up on life,” said Beyer when asked what her best life advice is. “Just keep going.”
